If you haven’t heard, there are many changes happening over here at Jewels Bright Art!
For the last 2 years, we’ve been spending much of our time on markets. This has been absolutely fantastic for our business. But markets are exhausting, time consuming, and basically took our weekends away for at least 6 months a year. I was REALLY looking forward to a break!
I also made the difficult decision to quit painting! Yes, for the last 8 years, I’ve been a painter for the local company Colorado Ski Chairs. I am still doing some graphic design work for them, so apparently I can’t quit completely….But it has been hard growing this business part time for these last 6 years. Many of those years, I was going crazy, working astronomical hours and not moving my business forward much. I am an artist, after all.
I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to actually having the time and energy to put into this little business! And maybe, who knows, get some actual rest! It’s my first week with this new adjustment, but I mostly have just been a little stressed and feeling like I’m doing nothing. Isn’t that the way it always goes?
The truth is, last year I was feeling a huge burn out coming on, so I started to implement some more passive avenues that I could expand on in the future. I started writing a book! I plan to get it published next year. I started a large Columbine and native plant garden, so that I can start selling pressed Colorado wildflowers next year! And I also started an exotic cactus nursery, which I will start selling plants from in a year or two.
And I’m over here, feeling like I’m not doing anything! ADHD much??
I don’t know about you, but I am hoping for a busy online Holiday sales season! The great thing about no holiday markets, is that we will be ready and fully stocked for our online orders!
Thank you for being a part of our small business family!
